Do you have a story to tell?

The journey of becoming a surgeon is a testament to courage, resilience, and transformation. It is a path that demands boldness, bravery, and an unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth. We invite you to share your unique experiences, reflections, and stories that embody our theme: "Be Bold. Be Brave. Become." 

We are looking for creative writing pieces that explore the multifaceted journey of women in surgery. Whether it’s a personal narrative, a poem, a short story, or an essay, we want to hear how you’ve embraced boldness, faced your fears, and transformed through your experiences. Submissions may be any genre and should be limited to 3 pages maximum (may be an excerpt from a longer piece).

Timeline: 

• Sept 15: Deadline for Submissions
• Oct 1: Winners Announced
• Oct 18 6-7 PM Pacific: Winners read aloud at Wine & Cheese Reception at the Marriott Marquis San Francisco 

Submissions will be judged by a panel from the Publications Committee and all selections will be vetted by AWS Executive Committee prior to announcement. Judging rubric includes consistency with theme, uniqueness, creativity, and overall quality.
