AWS Shining Star Leadership Coaching
One of the key missions of the Association of Women Surgeons is "to inspire, encourage, and enable women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals."
In keeping with this, AWS is proud to introduce the Shining Star Leadership Coaching Program. The goal of this project is to develop a leadership pipeline by providing junior women surgeons with leadership skills and/or aspirations with the necessary training and professional development to take their careers to the next level.
Applicant Requirements:
- Women surgeons with at least five years in practice from all surgical specialties, practice settings, and regions.
- Must be an AWS member in good standing.
- Able to attend the half-day virtual retreat, three personalized coaching sessions and, three conference calls.
- Committed to obtaining at least one of their identified leadership goals.
About the Program:
- 10 selected participants will take the CPI 260 Leadership Assessment, which is designed to identify an individual's strengths and areas for development.
- This will be followed by a VIRTUAL Half-day Leadership Development Course with a special area of interest in advancing diversity and facilitating leadership development for women in medicine led by Dr. Mamta Gautam, MD, MBA, FRCPC, CPDC, CCPE, CPE.
- During this retreat, participants will receive a group debrief of the CPI 260 assessment, learn about leadership style, and building their confidence, grit, and resilience,
- In addition, Dr. Gautam will use the assessment to guide three personalized individual coaching sessions for all the participants.
- Lastly, the program participants will have the opportunity for group learning with each other. This will be a great opportunity to learn about leadership styles and how to build confidence via three additional Zoom sessions throughout the year.
About the Presenter:
Mamta Gautam, MD, MBA, FRCPC, CPDC, CCPE, CPE is an internationally renowned psychiatrist, consultant, certified coach, author and speaker. Focused on Physician Health and Well-being since 1990, she is a pioneer in this field and is known as the “The Doctor’s Doctor”. In the past two decades, she has expanded her work to include Physician Leadership Development to better address system-level factors that impact physician wellness. She is a faculty member of the American Association for Physician leadership and the founding director of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine Wellness Program.
